Margaret Romero, NP-C

Margaret A. Romero is a nationally board certified nurse practitioner with a practice in primary care.  Among her specialties is diagnosing and treating food allergies, including gluten intolerance, autoimmune diseases including Lupus, hormonal imbalance, including thyroid disorders.  In addition, she works extensively with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women.  Ms. Romero is a skilled and caring primary care practitioner with an integrative approach to healthcare. She takes the time to get to know her patients and works in partnership with them to achieve their health goals.

She graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a bachelor’s of science in Biology. She began her medical career as an emergency medical technician. Her education continued to graduate school, where she attended Columbia University and obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her degree is in acute care with a subspecialty in emergency/ trauma.

Ms. Romero began her nursing career working on a telemetry unit at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, then emergency rooms in New York and Connecticut. Soon after, she began teaching to graduate nurse practitioner students at Columbia University. Her background also includes family practice, women’s health, and urgent care. Her interest in integrative medicine began and expanded. She became owner and cofounder of Mountain Spirit Integrative Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which is an integrative practice working collaboratively with other holistic practitioners.

Ms. Romero moved to Boulder, CO and owned a solo medical practice emphasizing the diagnosis and health of celiacs and those with a gluten intolerance. After her own personal experience with gluten, she realizes firsthand the multitude of health issues that surround this diagnosis. Food and nutrition are not only a big part of her practice but also her life. After suffering from debilitating joint and muscle pain, she discovered a severe gluten intolerance. Since that time she has helped countless people become free from the myriad symptoms that arise from gluten intolerance and celiac disease.
