
Janet Humphrey, founder of Giving Nature Center, has been involved in the field of natural health care since 1985. Janet is nationally certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in acupuncture and herbology (Dipl. Ac., Dipl. C.H.), and licensed in California and New York.
Janet received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Marlboro College, and subsequently served as a research associate in parasitology under Nobel Laureate Dr. Christian DeDuve at Rockefeller University in New York. She later enrolled in graduate study at Cornell University with a focus on Nutritional Biochemistry.
In 1985, Janet became certified in therapeutic massage at Twin Lakes College of the Healing Arts, in Santa Cruz, California, and while studying acupuncture, worked in molecular biology research at the University of California. Her curricular studies in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine took place through Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz and The San Francisco College of Acupuncture, and in 1991 she completed a state-approved clinical apprenticeship. In 2002 she relocated to New York where she attended Tri-State College of Acupuncture in order to obtain state licensure.
Janet is committed to providing patients with knowledge and tools to care for their own health wisely and naturally. She supports and advises patients in navigating the field of Western medicine and learning how to blend it with holistic health care.
