Smoking CessationWhen you decide to stop smoking, call our office to schedule an initial appointment in advance of your chosen start date. We will discuss the smoking cessation treatment plan, give you an initial treatment, and help you prepare. The recommended treatment protocol is as follows:

Within the first 5 days, with the support of acupuncture, you will have moved through the initial physical withdrawal from cigarettes. Following that, additional sessions are scheduled in weeks two and three to continue balancing your body and help you resist the tendency to pick up cigarettes again.

Acupuncture works by balancing your system, and stimulating hormone release that allows you to withdraw from the physical addiction to nicotine. It also calms the nervous system and reduces stress which can be one of the triggers that make you pick up a cigarette.

Once you have quit smoking, acupuncture can help your body clear the dryness and heat that has accumulated in the lungs, to support their healing. It can also support you by relieving stress and regulating metabolism to avoid weight gain that often follows smoking cessation.

Herbal therapy may also be used.
